Howdy, I'm Ed Mahoney. I come from a small town called
Littleton in Massachusetts.
My father was an Electrical Contractor who worked mostly in Boston and at
thirteen I was pulling wires with the best of them. I had a chance to see all
the trades working together and loved the experience. This is where the seed was
planted. I continued to work with him on weekends, school breaks, and summers on
all types of
projects. The architecture in and around Boston fascinated me. It dated from
1760 to modern times and everything was in need of some updating or repair, both
structural and electrical. It was a good training ground for rest of my life,
even though I wasn't sure where I was going. After high school I enlisted
for a four year
hitch in the United States Coast Guard , receiving training as an
Electronics Technician and serving overseas
on isolated duty for one year and ship board for the rest of my tour of duty. It
was a long four years and I still
recall it vividly. My father had died while I was away in the service, so I made
my way to Engineering School at Lowell Technological Institute, ( the
poor man's MIT ), using the GI Bill to obtain a Bachelors Degree in
Mechanical Engineering. I was hired by the Dept of Defense, Naval Ordinance
Laboratory in Washington DC to work on development of many of the weapon systems
that are defending our country today all over the world. Of course, this
subject remains top secret for the most part and cannot be discussed even today.
I stayed with Dept of Defense for one year in DC and one year in California. I
started a Handy Man business in So Cal on the weekends and soon realized I was
happier working at my love and joy, Building. After my
contract with the Navy was completed , I struck out on my own and have never
looked back. My youth had prepared me for my future and at 28 years of age I
received my General Contractors license and have since
built both cabins and castles, in Cal since 1978 and in NV since
1994.
The building we do today is a lot more technical than the
the world I grew up in but their is still no substitute for quality and good old
fashioned hard work. You can't build without getting dirty if you're really
involved like I am every day. I take a personal approach to every project and I
understand the hopes and dreams that people put into their building projects. If
I get the privilege to design and/or build for you, I promise you will get
your money's worth every day and a project you'll be happy with. So please feel
free to call the office for an appointment for a free consultation with the
builder himself. You are not just another job to me. Without you I cannot pursue
my purpose in life. "I LOVE MY WORK"
But After Work
